Upcoming updates! The One Ring Week Begins!
William PaineSorry for the quiet of recent weeks. Some family things came up. And - ya know “Real Life” stuff.
I’m going to implement a better way to manage my schedule and hope to post something weekly. So each week I’ll focus my attention on a different game. I’ll set some simple achievable goals and post here about what those goals are and later how the week went. I’m going to double up on Warhammer weeks. I have a Warhammer one-shot planned with friends in mid October. They're playing night goblin private investigators in Ubersreik (more info very soon).
I have a small chance of finally playing an adventure from the 2nd ed starter set this coming weekend. So The One Ring Week begins!
My goals for this week are simple:
- Read the adventures in The One Ring Starter Set
- Read the rest of the Starter Set
- Try a solo adventure or a simple encounter with my partner before we go on our weekend - to familiarize myself with the flow of the game.
PaineFull-DM Actual here. So, I've read the Adventures book in The One Ring Starter Set. I'm going to keep it simple and use the first adventure in the book. Next step is to layout the table and go through some basic mechanics so I feel comfortable playing. It's surprising how long it's been since I played any RPG around a table.
I'm impressed how these adventures not only ease new players and loremasters into the mechanics with simple adventures. It also eases one into the setting with simple plots and simple characters. Simple in the sense that they don't have complex skills or powers. The characters have interesting ties to the place and other known characters - which encourages some interesting role playing opportunities. Really well done design!
PaineFull-DM Actual here. The weekend vacation One Ring session did not come to pass. We'll play some other time. Due to heat and humidity, conversation, hydration, light meals and evening swims were our activities.
This week - I'll present the progress I've made (and the challenges I still face) on my One Shot plans for a Warhammer / Forbidden Lands adventure to be played in October.
