PaineFull-DM RPG News - October 2022
Hello! Long time, folks. Sorry for the delays. Here are some of the happenings in my world.
I’m going to be going through my RPG library and paring down some of the books that I’m not using. I’d like to donate them to a local game library or game club. Let me know if you know of one (South Burlington, Vermont, US area).
The Annual get together among a group of my gaming friends occurred in an undisclosed location last week. I had started to put together a one-shot of Warhammer Fantasy RPG - but using D&D mechanics. They wanted to play Night Goblin characters. It was easier to make pre-generated goblins using D&D.
I ran two sessions - that totally went off the rails of my adventure outline - but were OH SO FUN! Jeff then decided to take over as DM for a couple of sessions and I picked another NPC goblin. The rest of the weekend, we traded off DMing with the same character group. It was a total blast!!
I had brought a crate of other games for one-shots - The One Ring, Symbaroum, Coriolis. Others brought Battletech, Medal of Honor, and other miniature games. We played none of them. It was 24/7 goblin mayhem!
It reminded me that planning too much can be unhelpful. Thinking of several different ways to introduce NPCs and short narrative bits is better than a set of rails - especially with this group of DMs who already know how to have fun.
